• Salary Package: $109,272 (Level A, Step 6 - PhD awarded rate) p.a., plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading• Full-time, fixed-term contract for 1 year at Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde
• Supportive and collaborative team with hybrid working arrangements
About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified Postdoctoral Researcher to join a cutting-edge project focused on the self-consistent analysis of black hole horizons and their observational signatures. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic research environment at the Department of Physics and Astronomy/ the Research Centre for Astronomy, Astrophysics and Astrophotonics.
The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Prof. Daniel Terno and Prof. Robert Mann (University of Waterloo), as well as a team of HDR students. The research will explore quantum aspects of physical black holes, collapse models, and the properties of ultra-compact objects such as quasi-normal modes.
You will lead the development of modelling codes and have primary responsibility for at least one project within the broader research program. Additionally you will contribute to theoretical components of the project including analysis of results , manuscript preparation for publication, and potentially assisting in the supervision of graduate students.

Selection Criteria
A PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, or Mathematical Physics
Working knowledge of general relativity and at least one of the following: black hole physics, alternative theories of gravity, numerical relativity, lower-dimensional quantum gravity
A strong record of computer programming.
Experience in numerical relativity and/or numerical simulation of quantum field-detector interaction
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of an effective team.
