Who you are

A skilled payroll professional with strong experience in payroll administration, processing and compliance. Someone with Workday Payroll experience would be highly desired. You have a can-do attitude and a customer service centric ethos. You are self-motivated and enjoy a collaborative working style. The Role:

Reporting to the Finance Manager and CFO :

• Process end-to-end payroll (fortnightly) ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Process new starters, terminations, and changes in employment conditions, including correct calculation of termination payouts.
• Administer annual leave, personal leave, long service leave, and other leave types in accordance with legislation and company policy.
• Facilitate as the first point of contact for payroll queries from employees and managers, providing timely, accurate advice on payslips, leave, entitlements and deductions.
• Ensure payroll is compliant with relevant regulations.
• Assist with payroll tax data preparation and reconciliations (monthly/annual) in collaboration with Finance.
• Prepare payroll journals and liaise with the Finance team to reconcile payroll and related GL accounts (wages, PAYG, super, payroll tax, provisions).
• Prepare regular and ad hoc payroll reports for Finance and management (headcount, overtime, leave liabilities, cost centre reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with specialised payroll qualifications
• 3+ years’ end-to-end payroll experience in Australia, ideally in a mid-size organisation or similar. Knowledge of NZ payroll would be an advantage.
• Good understanding of Australian payroll legislation, PAYG, superannuation, STP, record-keeping, payslip obligations. In addition, state-based obligations such as payroll tax and long-service-leave requirements.
• Strong working knowledge of payroll systems and working knowledge of Excel. Knowledge of Workday Payroll is highly valued.
• Ability to work independently and proactively looking for solutions to problems
• Ability to prioritise work and to meet deadlines
• Accuracy, attention to detail and discretion.
• Strong stakeholder management and communications skills.
